Teachers WorkShop
Teacher's workshop was the opening event for the academic year 2013-14, conducted by Mrs.Nalina, Resource person from "People first leadership academy" on 20th June, 2013. It was an activity based and highly interactive workshop. All the teachers were split into three groups. Each group had a group leader and the group leader had to introduce the group members with their positive characters. The groups had to name themselves, compose a poem and sing. Points were allotted to all the groups which made the teachers to be competitive. This activity was to test the understanding ability of each group member in a group. Mrs. Nalina explained about the brain power, short term memory and long term memory and how short term memory can be converted into long term memory in children. She also gave information about the success principles. All teachers were made to do SWOT analysis to analyse their strengths and weakness, relate themselves to an object or plant or animal and explain to the other group giving reasons. Each group were given a task to construct a tall building using minimum numbers of pins and straws ie 5 pins and 25 straws. This activity was given to exhibit their creativity, co-ordination, leadership and time management using limited resources. The workshop concluded with an interactive session about the three stages of human life and how they behave in each stage this gave an opportunity for all the teachers to handle and understand the students in a better way. Since each group were allotted points for all the activities, tasks and interactions, all the teachers were motivated t be alert competitive and highly interactive. Overall the workshop was excellent highly interactive and resourceful. Kavitha Sebastin
